• SPIFFE is an open source security standards and implementation project within the Cloud Native Computing Foundation. Today, SPIFFE is used at many of the largest tech companies in the world, including Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Uber, TikTok, and Netflix. But how did it get started, and what can we learn for future projects? In this talk I'll go back in time to the genesis of the project in 2018, and apply these lessons so you can succeed with your open source project. 

Speaker: Daniel Feldman

Bio: Daniel is a security engineer who has been part of the SPIFFE project since 2018. He's helped deploy it at more than 10 large companies, hosted the regular working group meeting for over 5 years, and done over 20 conference presentations on various aspects of SPIFFE. For his day job, he's worked in independent consulting, HPE, Scytale, Veritas, Symantec, and before that, did a bit of security research at the University of Minnesota.
