Cloud-Native Computing Wellington | Feb 2024 | Kick-Off and Tech Presentations
Hello #DevOps, #CloudOps, #Cloud-Native friends,
Welcome to 2024 - another great year to connect, share and learn more.
We are kicking off 2024 with a virtual meetup and bringing some international speakers to start the year with a bang. We have an exciting topic for February 2024. I planned this for a while and can now secure the speaker's time. I am excited that we get to hear from them and also learn from you folks. Please spread, share and join us.

Presentation from Authors of the book "Technology Operating Models for Cloud and Edge"
Every organization's "why to use the cloud" could be subtly different. However, there are common ones such as CapEx, OpEx, risk reduction, and faster market time. Getting the desired return on investment (ROI) out of moving to the public cloud is not as easy as it looked when the hyper scalers sales team did their presentations. We will not cite percentages here, such as "X% of all cloud migrations fail." First, we don't have a consistent and overarching definition of "failure," nor a specific one for each case. Second, every "failing" initiative has brought learnings with it. And third, we need to appreciate these first movers because we benefit from what they have learned. However, research suggests that many cloud migrations do not go as smoothly as initially anticipated. Authors Andreas Spanner and Ahilan Poonusamy will share the book's inspiration and quickly present the topic.
12:45 PM
Demo: CloudBees DevSecOps Platform for Cloud-Native Applications
Seetharam Param - VP and GM for the CloudBees Product, will give us a quick demo of their CloudBees Cloud-Native DevSecOps Platform.
1:05 PM
Wrap-up & Thank you
BMK will conclude the virtual meetup and share the e-book details and CloudBees T-shirt promotion campaign details.
